The Rotary Club of Pondicherry is the oldest Rotary club in the Union Territory of Puducherry. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cuddalore, the club received its charter on 25 June 1956 with Charter Number 015880, shortly after Rotary International celebrated its Golden Jubilee. Today, marking 70 years of dedicated service, the club continues to uphold Rotary's enduring values of fellowship, integrity, and community service.
The club's Charter President was Rtn. Kewal Singh, I.C.S., a distinguished officer of the Government of the Union Territory of Pondicherry, who laid a strong foundation for Rotary service in the region. The club today comes under Rotary District 2981, comprising Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagappattinam, Karaikal, and Cuddalore.

What We Stand For
Our History
- Chartered 25 June 1956, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Cuddalore - the oldest Rotary club in the Union Territory of Puducherry.
- At the time of charter, the Rotary district extended from the Bay of Bengal to the Arabian Sea, reflecting the vast reach of Rotary's mission in that era.
- The club has the distinction of producing a District Governor for Rotary International District 2980.
- Major Donor Rtn. (Late) V. Nagaraj, one of our most respected members, remains a lasting source of inspiration for the club and the wider Rotary community.
For seven decades, the Rotary Club of Pondicherry has remained steadfast in its commitment to “Service Above Self.” As we celebrate this remarkable milestone, we reaffirm our dedication to building stronger communities, empowering lives, and creating lasting impact through fellowship and service.
